The themes of “Zäme” is continuity and valorisation of the existing. The Deacon House is growing and changing into an open and flexible new spatial system, having its offer expanded and supplemented.
Existing spaces are newly linked so that a central public distribution is created in order to break down the borders. The programm is redistributed througout the new structure gaining clarity and generosity. The theme of the threshold leads continuously through the project in order to articulate the new spatial organisation and to accompany the residents. The renovation measures and the further construction of the substance will be implemented in several stages, in order to maintain the exploitation of the structure meanwhile building. It is important to offer the residents a gentle change into the new structure. The protected space and the required resources remain available for the residents during the construction phases.
